Every check, every change

The provider pages behind every ranking are re-read by an automated check each week, and the figures on a card only carry a date once that check, or a person, has confirmed them. This is the record: what was confirmed, what was flagged for a person to read, and what we noticed along the way.

What we noticed

• 16 September 2026Business savings

  Shawbrook repriced both business bonds today: the one-year from 4.70% to 4.76% (Issue 30 to 31) and the two-year from 3.86% to 4.70% (Issue 15 to 16), rates effective 16 September. Our daily check caught it on its first day of running. United Trust Bank's page changed the same afternoon without a single rate moving.

  bp's small business page is the only fuel card page we found that prints a plain discount: 3.5p a litre off at bp-branded sites, £2 a card a month, £2,500 of credit a month. Every other provider says "up to" or says nothing and asks you to call.

  Allstar's Standard Charges document is dated August 2022 and is still the latest it publishes. It lists a network service fee of up to £3 a transaction, an underused-account fee of £9.99 a card a month, and a convenience charge of up to 6p a litre that no comparison site we have seen mentions. Allstar's own pricing page showed its commercial diesel price at 152.57p against a 152.51p national average for the week of 14 September.

  Shell's fuel card pages cannot be read by anything but a browser, and Shell's own site blocks ours. The site counts we hold for Shell come from the summaries Shell publishes to search engines.

  Lloyds serves our weekly checker an error page, so its card is the one we confirm by hand. Read again in a browser on 16 September: 14.9% purchase rate, 15.95% representative, £32 fee waived in year one and at £6,000 of spend. Nothing had changed.

  Moss came off this page. Its pricing page renders in the browser where our checker cannot follow, it publishes no purchase rate, and it had held the page's verified date back at 17 August. It stays on the expense tools page, where it fits.

  Revolut Business and Juni answer automated readers with a 403, and Soldo's per-user and per-card prices sit behind a slider only a browser can move. Those figures are read by hand and say so in their notes.

• 21 August 2026Business credit cards

  Amex's Business Gold and Business Platinum are charge cards with a pay-over-time option at a published 29.1% purchase rate. Most lists still call them charge cards and stop there. If you tell the calculator you carry a balance, it prices that rate.

• 19 August 2026Business credit cards

  Capital on Tap advertises rates "as low as" 13.86% and publishes no representative APR. Barclaycard publishes a representative 25.5% and no "from" rate. They are different regulated figures, and any table that puts them in one column is comparing a best case with a typical one.

Automated checks

Each run reads every provider page, extracts the published figures and compares them with ours. A page that still says what we say moves its card's verified date. A page that disagrees is flagged and a person reads it before any figure changes. Nothing changes on its own.

Flagged means the automated reader and our dataset disagreed and a person had to look; it does not mean the provider changed a figure. Most flags are a page that moved a number between two tables. The method is on the methodology page.
